Elon Musk Announces First Neuralink Chip Implant in The Human Brain

Elon Musk, the founder of the startup Neuralink, announced that the first human recipient of a Neuralink brain-chip has apparently fully recovered.

“Progress is good, and the patient seems to have made a full recovery, with neural effects that we are aware of. Patient is able to move a mouse around the screen by just thinking,” Musk said in a Spaces event on social media platform X.

What is Neuralink ?

Neuralink resembles a miniature or a tiny computer chip designed for implantation in the human brain. Much like how our brains utilize electrical signals to govern bodily functions, Neuralink’s brain chip serves as a conduit connecting our thoughts to the digital world.

Why does Elon Musk want to connect our brains to computers?

So, what motivates Elon Musk to connect our brains to our computers? His belief rests on the idea that linking our brains to computers offers the opportunity to enhance our cognitive abilities and transcend boundaries. It represents a leap forward in intelligence, enabling faster learning, immediate access to knowledge, and thought-based communication. Through Neuralink, Musk envisages a future where humanity taps into the boundless potential of the mind, fostering a mutually beneficial interaction between humans and technology.

“The long-term aspiration with Neuralink would be to achieve a symbiosis with artificial intelligence,” Musk said in a 2018 interview with Axios, adding that as the algorithms and the hardware improve, digital intelligence will exceed biological intelligence by a substantial margin.

However, Neuralink has been under heightened scrutiny and criticism for its safety protocols.
