International Women’s Day celebrated on the 8th of March every year is a day set aside to celebrate women all over the world whether Caucasian, Black, or Asian. It outlines the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also making a call to action for accelerating gender balance. This year’s theme #BalanceForBetter preaches a gender-balance world. and lends a voice to the cause for a gender balanced boardroom, government, media coverage, sport coverage and technology world.
In the spirit of solidarity, the Women Technology Makers of Google Developers Group Minna @GDGMinna organized it’s own International women’s day event which happened on the 27th of April, 2019. The event took place at Paritie Innovation Hub Minna from 10am-3pm and had women of different ages in attendance. It is worthy to note that there was a great improvement in the turnout of women highlighted in the statistics of about 60% of the attendees being females and all the speakers except one being an all females affair.
